RORY DELAP has been forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad for Wednesday's crucial European Championship qualifier against Switzerland.
The Southampton midfielder has been struggling with a calf problem and he has left the training camp in Dublin to return to his club for treatment on the injury.
The 26-year-old becomes the third player to pull out of the original squad following Birmingham's Jeff Kenna and Newcastle's Andy O'Brien.
It leaves manager Mick McCarthy with very little cover on the right side of the team with Stephen Carr, Steve Finnan, Kenna and now Delap all missing.
McCarthy is confident that goalkeeper Shay Given, defender Phil Babb and midfield ace Matt Holland will all be fit to play on Wednesday despite missing training on Monday.
