Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett pledged his men will go flat out in their remaining nine games to clinch a play-off place after having to make do with a point from their 1-1 draw at Brighton.

Spanish defender Bruno Saltor drove the Seagulls ahead on 70 minutes but Rajiv van La Parra replied four minutes later with a cross that keeper David Stockdale palmed into his own net.

Jackett was left to reflect on "thin dividing lines" after Stockdale brilliantly pushed a goal-bound shot from Bakary Sako on the post deep into stoppage time.

The former Millwall boss said: "It was a close game and a fantastic save at the end to deny us.

"But we have to keep pushing; two teams above us lost and we have two important games coming up. We would have loved three points, but thin dividing lines decide games in the Championship."

Wolves are three points adrift of the play-off positions and Jackett insists that the position is "still open for us".

Brighton dealt a blow to Wolves' Championship play-off aspirations by holding them to a 1-1 draw.

He added: "We've not had a bad season at all. A number of clubs in the Championship are looking for promotion, including us, and it is still open for us."

Jackett admitted former Brighton keeper Tomasz Kuszczak would have been "disappointed" at allowing Bruno's shot to slip underneath his body, while he felt Albion centre-back Lewis Dunk could have been sent off when handling early on.

He said: "I felt possibly it could have been a red card but the referee played an advantage with Benik Afobe being one-on-one. From the follow-up, Sako had a shot cleared off the line."

Brighton manager Chris Hughton was quick to admit he felt it was a "fair result" but was disappointed his men let slip the lead so quickly.

He said: "It was probably heading towards a 0-0 when we scored and I'm disappointed we didn't hang on.

"There's no doubt David Stockdale will be disappointed with the goal we conceded, but that's a keeper's lot.

"He went on to make two very good saves towards the end and that is part and parcel of being a keeper."

Brighton, who have failed to win any of their last five away games, were bidding for a fourth-straight home victory but Hughton reckoned they came up against a strong Wolves outfit.

He added: "Wolves have been up around the top eight all season and we had to defend well. We had opportunities to break well, had Joao Teixeira's final ball been better.

"Wolves showed why they are highly placed, but we scored the first goal and had other chances in a match between two teams who wanted to play. Their equaliser was fortuitous."

Hughton said he never felt Dunk's handball should have resulted in a sending off, but was surprised Wolves substitute Nouha Dicko escaped without a booking for his challenge on former Oldham midfielder Dale Stephens late on.

Dicko went in with his foot up, and Hughton said: "I'm surprised it wasn't a booking. Generally it always is."
