Striker Leigh Griffiths has told Wolves he wants to make his loan stay at Hibernian permanent and hopes a deal can be completed "as quickly as possible".

The 22-year-old has spent the last 16 months with the Easter Road club after extending his initial stay on two occasions and has repaid them with 14 league goals so far this season.

His current deal is due to expire after the match against Dundee on January 19, but Hibs are in talks with Wolves over a proposed £150,000 transfer.

Griffiths said: "I have told them [Wolves] I want to stay, so I just want it done as quickly as possible, but I need to wait and see.

"We still have a big game coming up on Thursday, then we have a two-week break. If it doesn't happen by then, my last game will be at home against Dundee.

"They are speaking, so I am hoping it's done in the next week or so."

Griffiths was told by Stale Solbakken at the start of the season that he had no future at the Midlands club, but his impressive form for Hibs prompted the Wolves manager to send scouts to watch him in action.
