Bristol City have confirmed on-loan defender George Elokobi will miss the rest of the season after suffering a horror injury on his debut against Leeds United.

Elokobi only arrived at Ashton Gate on a three-month loan deal from Wolves earlier this week and was pitched straight into the starting line-up on Saturday.

However, Elokobi fractured and dislocated his ankle in the first half of City's 3-2 defeat by Leeds and will be out for the remainder of the campaign.

Robins boss Derek McInnes told the club's official website: "All our thoughts are with George because it's a horrendous injury and he won't play again this season.

"He's fractured and dislocated his ankle and has gone off immediately for an operation.

"We wish him well and it's a real shame because he was so happy with this move and we were excited to be working with him."
