Forest boss feels additions have played key role in recent run

Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cotterill has praised the impact of his loan signings in helping the club pull away from the relegation zone. A run of two defeats in 10 matches has lifted Forest six points clear of the bottom three, with just six games of the Championship season remaining. The likes of George Elokobi, Danny Higginbotham and Adlene Guedioura have all been brought to the City Ground on loan and Cotterill feels the temporary additions have played a key role. "At one stage, we could have had Jose Mourinho in charge here and we would have lost matches because we could not put a back four together," said Cotterill.

Competition

"We can do that now and it has helped us a lot and that has been key to the turnaround. "The loan players have helped unbelievably because we have defenders on the pitch. We would not have gone on the run that we have if we did not get those loan players in. "Even now, when not all of the loan players are starting games, what we have is Joel Lynch on his toes, we have Greg Cunningham on his toes, Chris Gunter and Luke Chambers are the same. You need competition in this league and those loan signings have been the key to that."
