Brighton first-team coach Charlie Oatway is unsurprised by reports linking Gus Poyet to the vacant Wolves managerial role but expects him to stay put.
Skysports.com reported on Monday Wolves have asked the Seagulls' permission to speak with the Uruguayan boss, who guided the club to promotion from League One last season.
The Midlanders are on the hunt for a successor to Mick McCarthy, who was sacked by the club last week.
But Poyet is in the first season of a five-year deal and Oatway feels the 44-year-old is intent on taking the club forward with chairman Tony Bloom.
He told
The Argus: "In my time at Brighton we've had some good managers linked with other clubs and they have gone on to so-called bigger and better things, so we are quite used to it, the fans and everyone.
No surprise
"Nobody is surprised Gus is getting linked with other jobs and that includes us, the chairman and his board of directors and the fans. It's one of those things that is going to happen.
"Gus has signed a five-year contract with a bigger picture and a bigger plan with the chairman to build this club through the right avenues and I am sure they will."
Poyet has been at Brighton since November 2009 when he took his first managerial role at the club.
He is one of several Championship managers being linked with the Wolves job, with Reading boss Brian McDermott, as well as Blackpool's Ian Holloway and Birmingham's Chris Hughton, thought to be possible contenders.
