Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong hopes Wolves stay up after his loan spell was cut short by injury.

The 20-year-old is back with the Gunners after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's Premier League match at QPR.

A scan has revealed the extent of the damage with the midfielder now set to miss the remainder of the season.

Frimpong made five Premier League starts for Mick McCarthy's side and the Ghana-born man has thanked the fans for supporting him.

"Bad news is that I'm out for six to nine months with my knee," he wrote on his Twitter account.

"I want to thank all the Wolves fans for their support since I've been here and really hope Wolves stay up this season."
