Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has jumped to the defence of Steve Morgan following the chairman's well-publicised visit to the players' dressing room last week.
McCarthy is keen to prolong the club's stay in the top flight for a fourth successive season and their 2-1 victory at QPR on Saturday helped them end a nine-game winless streak.
Goals from Matt Jarvis and substitute Kevin Doyle helped Wanderers recover from a goal down to secure a much-needed three points at Loftus Road which lifted them out of the relegation zone.
And, after Morgan lambasted the team following the 3-0 home defeat by Liverpool earlier in the week, it was a perfect response by the Black Country outfit.
But the Wolves manager feels he owes Morgan 'a debt of gratitude' for his ongoing support.
"Can I just say something about my owner? We have won three games in 22 and I am still here as the manager of Wolves," McCarthy said on the club's official website.
"Let me tell you that is some level of support so let's not forget that.
"When everyone is writing negative stuff about me and Steve he has been as supportive as anyone else.
"I owe him a debt of gratitude for that.
"I was under no more pressure from Tuesday night than I have been for the last 20 games. The players did grow in confidence."
Positive
McCarthy is looking forward to taking on West Brom at Molineux this weekend in the much-anticipated Black Country derby fully aware that it will be a difficult task against a side who are currently four points better off in the league.
"We can drag West Brom in next week but they can move further away from us as well," he said.
"I am positive but we've got three points on Saturday against ten men and are not going to start beating our chests about it.
"It's a real tough game for us next week and a really important one because it's against our neighbours."
