Wolves star doing well after ankle operation

Wolves defender Kevin Foley has revealed he is making good progress as he recovers from his ankle operation. The Irish international underwent surgery three weeks ago to cure a long-standing problem. He is now inching towards full fitness and is hopeful of being available soon. "The operation went well and I was off my crutches quite quickly," Foley told Wolves' website. "I've started running on the treadmill now and it feels better every day. "There's a bit of stiffness from scar tissue but the physios and masseurs are doing a great job for me.

Aim

"My aim is to be back training within two or three weeks and the international break has come at a good time. "After that it's all about getting my fitness up. "I'm doing as much as I can on the treadmill and the bike but there's nothing like going outside and playing and getting involved in full training. "Getting a good base fitness before joining in will be important. "The absence was predicted at anything between four to eight weeks. "My aim has always been four to six and we're just over three weeks now. "When I do get back I will need to get back into the swing of things with reserve games. "In an ideal world I would have had an operation in pre-season. "But it was one of those injuries which looked like I could shake off and you always try other things before surgery. "I'd shake it off for a week or two and then it would come back. "And it got to the stage where we thought we needed to do something about it. "I couldn't go through the whole season like it because I wasn't going to be 100 per cent and that was no good to me or the team. "Hopefully I can come back and have five or six months solid playing football."
