Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy was pleased with his team's 2-2 comeback draw with Swansea City at Molineux in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from Danny Graham and Joe Allen had put the Swans 2-0 up after 35 minutes, but strikes from Kevin Doyle and Jamie O'Hara in the final 10 minutes of the encounter helped Wolves pick up their first point in six league fixtures.
McCarthy made three substitutions in the second half, with Nenad Milijas coming on for Adam Hammill, Adlene Guedioura getting on for Matthew Jarvis and Sam Vokes replacing Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.
The replacements proved inspirational for the hosts, but McCarthy was modest in claiming credit for his tactics and even made sarcastic remarks.
"I got it all wrong," the 52-year-old told
Sky Sports when asked about the substitutions. "The substitutions were hopeless. I got that all wrong.
"They (the goals) were fortunate and I am a very lucky man."
Work to do
However, McCarthy soon became serious in his analysis of his team's performance and explained: "We scored two goals in the second half.
"At half-time we had a team talk and that helped in the second half.
"We pushed up and got things sorted. The lads who came on helped change the game."
When asked if this point has given his players a lift following their five-game losing streak, McCarthy stated: "Yes, of course it has.
"We have work to do as we did not play particularly well today. I always get the commitment from the players, there is no doubt in that.
"I admire the way the players brought us back in the game and got us the points. They are a great bunch of players."
