Defender may be kept out of Newcastle clash with toe injury

Wolves defender Richard Stearman faces a battle to be fit for Saturday's Premier League game with Newcastle after bruising his toe at Liverpool. Manager Mick McCarthy dismissed fears the injury was a break, but the right-back is still a doubt for Saturday. "We thought he [Stearman] might have a crack in it, but he hasn't so that's good news," McCarthy told the club's official website. "But I'd say he's a doubt for Newcastle. It depends how he reacts to training." McCarthy is hoping Stearman will not be added to a growing injury list which already includes Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Kevin Foley and Jody Craddock.

Not training

He said: "He's [Sylvan] not training with the squad yet at all. "I can't put a time on it. It's still probably between that initial timescale of four to six weeks. "Foles went to see the specialist and it was inconclusive, so he's having another look at it." McCarthy confirmed Craddock is set to return to training. "Jody's come along fine and he'll train this week," he added. "I haven't a definite day but he was hoping to train this week and I'm sure he will train."
