Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a bid accepted for Bohemians striker Stephen Ward.

The Republic of Ireland Under 21 international has been on trial at Molineux and has impressed manager Mick McCarthy in training.

Wolves returned to the player's Irish club with an undisclosed bid and the player will now discuss personal terms with the Championship outfit.

Ward would become McCarthy's second signing of the January transfer window.

The former Sunderland boss has already strengthened his defence with the signing of Neill Collins from The Black Cats.

Meanwhile, Stockport have swooped to sign Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey on a month's loan.

The 19-year-old is expected to go straight into County's side for their home match with Boston this weekend.
