Lowe set for Brighton loan

Wolves defender Keith Lowe is set to join Brighton & Hove Albion on loan.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Keith Lowe is set to join League One outfit Brighton & Hove Albion on a one-month loan deal.

Seagulls manager Mark McGhee is searching for defensive reinforcements after losing Adam Hinshelwood and Guy Butters to injury.

Lowe is yet to force his way into Wolves' first-team set-up on a regular basis and has previously had loan spells with Burnley, QPR and Swansea.

McGhee has now swooped to bring the 20-year-old to the Withdean Stadium for the first month of the campaign, but the Brighton boss will not rule out a longer stay for the stopper if he impresses.

"It's initially for a month. We'll see how he does and then the opportunity is there for him to extend or even better if he shapes up," McGhee told the club's official website.

"He's a fairly orthodox head it away and boot it away centre half, no frills, no messing, which is fine."

McGhee is still on the lookout for more new faces ahead of the start of the new campaign, with another defender and a striker high on his list of transfer targets.

Hull City striker Ben Burgess is one player the former Millwall boss is interested in, while QPR's Ian Evatt has also been linked with a move to Brighton.
