Crewe Alexandra midfielder Kenny Lunt could be set to join Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to manager Dario Gradi.
Lunt's deal with Alex expires in the summer and although he has been offered a deal to stay at Gresty Road, a chance to remain in The Championship may be too good to pass up.
Southampton and Crystal Palace have also been linked with the 26-year-old and Gradi admits the chance to play for Glenn Hoddle at Wolves would be the better move for Lunt's career.
"If Glenn Hoddle is telling Kenny that he wants him to play in central midfield in his first team next season at Wolves, then I have to turn around to him and advise Kenny that that is the best move for his career," he told the club's official website.
Despite admitting his captain may be better off leaving the club, Gradi remains hopeful he will decide to stay and try to bring Crewe straight back to The Championship.
"He is here training with us and, as I have said before, the longer he doesn't sign for anyone then the better chance we have," he added.
"The offer we have made is a good one. He won't be a pauper because he has signed for Crewe, and I think it will be good for him to stay here."
