Swansea look to have failed in a bid to sign Wolves defender Keith Lowe on loan.
The Swans are in desperate need of defensive cover before their game with Barnsley on Saturday having lost Kevin Austin, Izzy Iriekpen and Steven Watt to injury.
However, Wolves themselves are struggling for defensive players, meaning that Lowe could be in the squad for their trip to Loftus Road.
"I would prefer to see if my centre halves are fit before agreeing to Keith going anywhere," said Wolves manager Glenn Hoddle on the club's official website.
"I need to see how Gabor [Gyepes] and Jody [Craddock] are coming along and if Rob Edwards comes back [from international duty] without a problem.
"Keith would have been in the squad at the weekend if he'd been eligible to play and as it was, I had no defender on the bench.
"Had any of our back four suffered an injury we'd have had to change things around."
