Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to ending their lengthy pursuit of Izale McLeod after having a bid accepted for the Milton Keynes Dons hot-shot.

Glenn Hoddle's side had grown frustrated with their inability to concur on a fee with the League One side, but a reported fee of £1.4 million, with £800,000 dependent on appearances, has now paved the way for the move.

The 21-year-old is rated as one of the finest strikers in the lower leagues, and could now continue his progression at Molineux after MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman confirmed he had accepted a bid for the star.

"We've agreed a deal with Wolves," said Winkleman.

"I'd like Izale to stay but I've never stood in the way of a player who wants to progress his career."
