Hull City have snapped up Port Vale defender Sam Collins on loan.Hull City have taken Port Vale defender Sam Collins on loan - with a view to making the deal permanent in January.
The former Huddersfield Town and Bury man leaves the League One club after making it clear to The Valiants that he wanted to continue his career in The Championship.
The 28-year-old was the subject of interest from Championship rivals Plymouth Argyle and Crewe Alexandra last month, but Collins has agreed to sign a two-year deal with The Tigers in the New Year.
Despite being initially reluctant to let Collins leave Vale Park, the Potteries outfit have opted to let their club captain move on for a permanent fee of £65,000.
Another Vale player that could follow Collins to The Kingston Communications Stadium is striker Billy Paynter, despite the club rejecting Hull's offer for the 21-year-old.
Meanwhile, Wolves midfielder Chris Cornes has extended his loan at Vale Park into a third and final month.
