Coventry leapfrogged Wolves in the table with a narrow 1-0 win at Molineux.

Gary McSheffrey grabbed the all-important winning goal for Coventry on the hour mark.

Wolves dominated the first half with Coventry's on-loan goalkeeper Luke Steele producing a brave save to deny Carl Cort.

Dele Adebola went close for Coventry when he headed Michael Doyle's corner against the post.

Colin Cameron had an effort ruled out for offside as Wolves continued to pour forward and Cort went close just before the break with a swerving shot which Steele did well to keep out.

Coventry stunned the home fans with the opening goal on the hour as Eddie Johnson picked out McSheffrey unmarked inside the box and he kept his cool to volley the ball past Michael Oakes.

Wolves threw everything into attack in a bid to get back into the game, but they could not find a way past a resolute Coventry defence.

The result is a blow to caretaker manager Stuart Gray's hopes of securing the job on a permanent basis.
