Ibrahima Bakayoko claims he cannot understand why his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers collapsed.

The Ivory Coast international had been in protracted discussions regarding a switch to Molineux.

Bakayoko was available on a free transfer from Spanish side Osasuna and appeared poised for a one-year deal with Wolves after passing a medical.

But the Black Country side ditched their bid for the 27-year-old after deciding Bakayoko was not committed to joining the club.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey also revealed the demands of Bakayoko and his representatives kept creeping up at every meeting.

The powerful striker, though, insists he is unaware of the reasons for his failure to clinch a deal with Dave Jones' side.

"It's a difficult and sad situation," said Bakayoko.

"I don't know what went wrong over the Wolverhampton move.

"I had the chance to go there, but it didn't work out and I am still here."

Bakayoko is now in negotiations to cancel the final year of his contract with Osasuna, who are happy to allow the African to leave the Iberian club.
