Wolves have entered the race to sign Lens midfielder Papa Bouba Diop, according to sources in France.

The Senegal midfielder made a big impact at the last World Cup, scoring the sensational winner in the opening game of the tournament against holders France.

He has long been expected to join a team in Ukraine, probably Mettalurg Donetsk, but Lens have confirmed they have yet to agree to his sale.

The Ligue 1 club are believed to be interested in signing Tinashe Nengomasha of Kaiser Chiefs, although they have several players who may need to be shipped out first.

Diop was valued at ‚é¼10 million a couple of years ago when then Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle showed an interested in a player who was short-listed for the 2002 African Player of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Wolves boss Dave Jones has been found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute and fined £1,000.

The Molineux chief, who has been warned as to his future conduct, was punished for comments made towards referee Uriah Rennie after a controversial defeat to Bolton Wanderers on Easter Monday.
