Wolves are prowling Bordeaux in a bid to register their interest in signing defender Mathieu Beda.

The young defender is highly regarded by Les Girondins, and coach Michael Pavon has been relying on him at the back recently.

David Jones's side have been alerted to the fact that the 22-year-old is out of contract in June, and Bordeaux have no option but to allow the player to speak with any interested parties.

Although there is no suggestion that talks have already commenced, it is understood that Wolves will monitor the Nice-born stopper's situation carefully.

Much could depend on whether Wolves win their battle to remain in The Premiership, but the former Cannes and Nancy centre back is likely to remain on Jones's list of potential targets for 2004-2005.
