Palace chairman Simon Jordan claimed Jones had tabled a £3 million offer for Morrison, but stated that he had turned the proposal down.
However, during a press conference called to announce the appointment of Steve Bruce as the new Palace manager, Jordan admitted that he had received a message from a Wanderers club representative stating that they were willing to offer £3 million for an un-named player, and that he failed to return the call.
When pressed by planetfootball.com as to whether or not the bid was aimed at Morrison or another player, Jones wryly commented: "I have not made a £3 million offer for Clinton Morrison. More than that I cannot say."
Eagles midfielder Hayden Mullins (pictured) would appear to be the only other player in the squad that would command such a fee, and the 22-year-old's versatility would certainly be a valuable addition for Jones as he looks to rebuild his current Wolves squad.
It would seem at the moment, however, that Palace are not likely to be selling any of their major assets as they look to the future under the stewardship of Bruce.
