West Brom head coach Alan Irvine has confirmed Chris Brunt will remain as club captain for the coming season.
The Northern Ireland international took over from goalkeeper Scott Carson in the 2010/11 campaign and has now led the side under Roy Hodgson, Steve Clarke and Pepe Mel.
"Chris will absolutely be our captain," Irvine told West Brom's official website.
"There's absolutely no reason to change it. He has the respect of the changing room, he's done a great job as captain for many years, so I have no intention to make any changes."
Brunt played the whole of Tuesday night's 3-2 friendly defeat to Port Vale on his return from groin surgery and Irvine was delighted to have him back in action.
"It was absolutely fantastic to get 90 minutes from Chris Brunt," he added.
"Tuesday's game was as much for him as it was for anyone else. We decided to rest as many as we could and it was terrific for Chris to play 90 minutes - a big bonus for us."
