West Brom right-back Billy Jones hopes his goal against Newcastle on Saturday will provide a platform for a strong finish to the season for the Baggies.
The 26-year-old's first goal for the club, as well as the first scored by an English player for Albion this season, secured a 1-1 draw with the Magpies at The Hawthorns and ended a run of two straight defeats.
Jones said: "We always talked about how good teams don't lose three on the bounce so it was nice to stop the rot.
"We all know the first half wasn't acceptable but we showed good character in the second half and I think we at least deserved a draw."
On finally opening his goalscoring account, Jones added: "I am just relieved. I have had chances which I have fluffed and the keepers have made some saves.
"I am happy to get the first one and will hopefully get some more now."
