West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke is hopeful that striker Romelu Lukaku will regain his fitness for their clash with Manchester City on Saturday.

The 19-year-old, on loan from Chelsea for the 2012/13 season, is currently sidelined with pain in his right ankle and was left out of Belgium's 2014 World Cup qualifiers this week.

However, Clarke remains hopeful that the injury is a minor one and that Lukaku will be back for Premier League action at the weekend.

"We're hopeful Lukaku will be fit," he told West Brom's official website. "He's had a pain in his ankle for a few weeks.

"He felt it again when he came off the bench against QPR and didn't feel it was right to go (on international duty).

"He went across and got it assessed by the Belgium doctor and got sent back.

"It's not a big problem but it's one we're mindful we don't want to become a big problem. We're monitoring it."
