West Brom boss Steve Clarke admits Markus Rosenberg is unlikely to be ready for the final pre-season game against Nottingham Forest.

West Brom striker could miss Forest game

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has admitted that new striker Markus Rosenberg is unlikely to be ready for the final pre-season game against Nottingham Forest. The Baggies travel to the City Ground on Friday to complete their preparations ahead of their Premier League opener with Liverpool. But the Sweden international, who joined West Brom on a free transfer earlier this week, is still catching up with his fitness. "I wouldn't have thought Markus will be ready for tomorrow's game," said Clarke. "He's behind the rest of the group. He's not played or trained much since the end of the Euros. "He was a free transfer all summer and no matter what you do on your own - and you can run all you like - he was a little tired, shall we say, after his first training session for us."

Berahino

Meanwhile, Clarke has admitted that he has been impressed by young striker Saido Berahino, who scored against Walsall on Tuesday. "He's done well this pre-season. He hasn't played many minutes on the pitch but I've seen him work in training, be in and around the squad and I'm pleased with him," he said. "He's done very well and did everything I asked of him against Walsall, also scoring a good goal in the process."
