Sky Sports understands that Nottingham Forest want to sign Simon Cox from West Brom but other clubs are interested in the forward.
Cox is widely expected to leave the Hawthorns this summer as he has struggled to force his way into the Albion first team.
Forest boss Sean O'Driscoll is busy overhauling the squad at the City Ground since taking over last month and is keen to make the Republic of Ireland international central to his plans.
But there is believed to be interest from elsewhere in a player who featured at Euro 2012 and he may have his choice of clubs in the Championship.
Cox scored nine goals for the Baggies in their 2009-10 promotion season but has scored just one Premier League goal in 37 games in the past two seasons.
