West Brom's Liam Ridgewell has admitted his 'massive ambition' would be to win an England call-up.

Three Lions boss Hodgson signed defender for West Brom

West Brom's Liam Ridgewell has admitted his 'massive ambition' would be to win an England call-up. Despite being 27-years-old, the Baggies defender has not given up on representing the full international side having featured at both under-19 and under-21 level. And with former Baggies boss Roy Hodgson currently at the England helm, and having signed the versatile defender for the Midlands club, Ridgewell is hoping he can reunite with his old manager on international duty. "It's a massive ambition in my life to play for England," he told the Sunday Mercury newspaper. "Wearing the Three Lions on the shirt is what every English footballer aspires to. "The main aim for this season is to stay in the Premier League and not only do that but improve on last season.

Very happy

"I want a good and consistent season with West Brom first and foremost. "But if I got a call from Roy Hodgson then I'd be very happy. "Ashley Cole and Leighton Baines are obviously in the squad, and rightly so, but if the opportunity came up for me then I would grab it with both hands. "It's the pinnacle of any player's career to be capped for your country. "You just never know what lies around the corner."
