Roy Hodgson felt West Brom were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty against Swansea, but admitted his side 'got what they deserved' following a 2-1 home defeat.
The Baggies took the lead in the 54th minute at The Hawthorns through Marc-Antoine Fortune but were pegged back almost immediately when Gylfi Sigurdsson equalised.
Danny Graham then scored again for Swansea just a few minutes later and West Brom could not retrieve a point, despite a period of intense pressure in the closing stages.
Hodgson had no complaints after coming off second best to an impressive Swansea performance, telling Sky Sports: "We got what we deserved, frankly.
"I thought we made a real good go of it towards the end of the game but to only have the lead for such a short period of time, and then to concede another one, it was always going to be tough.
"Swansea are a good team. They keep the ball well and play some good football.
"The players worked very hard to try and get back into the game and we certainly put them under a lot of pressure in the last 15 to 20 minutes, but the defence held out."
Unlucky
While admitting that Swansea were the better team, Hodgson was left to bemoan referee Jon Moss' decision not to award a penalty when Ashley Williams appeared to use his hand in the first half.
"I think we were a bit unlucky with the penalty," he said.
"I am amazed that people can actually claw the ball away from someone's head when he is about to score and neither the referee or linesman can see it.
"I suppose I could point to some bad luck in that respect, but I can't say that over 90 minutes we deserved much more than what we got.
"All credit to Swansea but we must again lick our wounds and accept that on the day we weren't good enough to beat them."
