Albion make approach for Twente winger

Sky Sports sources understand West Brom have made an enquiry for FC Twente's Swedish winger Emir Bajrami. The 23-year-old has become a key player for the Dutch side this season, notching up 21 appearances and scoring four goals. He has established himself as a first-team regular in Enschede after struggling in his debut season, taking a back seat to Bryan Ruiz, now at Fulham. The Sweden international arrived at De Grolsch Veste from native club Elfsborg in 2010.

Target

Baggies boss Roy Hodgson is targeting the winger as he looks to bolster his attacking options, with Albion currently 15th in the Premier League. He will have to prise the Swede away from Twente boss Steve McClaren, who has started him in his first two Eredivisie matches in charge. Hodgson's interest in Bajrami comes after he confirmed he will not be signing Zenit St Petersburg winger Szabolcs Huszti this month due to concerns over his fitness. Twente are thought to be targeting ADO Den Haag forward Wesley Verhoek as a potential replacement for the winger.
