Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has confirmed he is hoping to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Roman Bednar to boost the club's promotion push. Sky Sports revealed on Friday that Bednar is a target for Blackpool after failing to make an impact under West Brom boss Roy Hodgson this season. Bednar has made just one substitute appearance in the Carling Cup and is in line to move to Blackpool for the remainder of the campaign. Holloway has endured frustration in his search for a new forward during January, but is optimistic of finally adding Bednar to his squad.

Proven

"We are hoping the Bednar deal goes through," Holloway said in the Blackpool Gazette. "He is a centre-forward who has a proven track record at a higher level, and I want to get him going again. "All the ones we tried to buy we exhausted for all sorts of reasons, prices and wages. "At the end of the day, Roman has as good if not better record than all of them anyway, so let's see if we can get him going again. "It is all about the run-in now, and I want positivity. I want people who want to be here, and Roman has convinced me that is what he wants. "I tried for him in the summer, he didn't want to do it then, but now he is up for it."
