West Brom have completed the signing of youngster Scott Allan from Dundee United for an undisclosed fee.
The 20-year-old midfielder was identified by Roy Hodgson as somebody who could improve the Baggies' squad and he passed a medical at The Hawthorns on Friday.
He has now sealed his move to West Brom to become their first new recruit of the January window.
Hodgson will be delighted to have won the chase for Allan after he also attracted interest from Old Firm duo Celtic and Rangers.
Allan's contract at Tannadice had been set to expire in the summer and he turned down the offer of a new deal.
United confirmed he had joined West Brom, with manager Peter Houston telling his club's official website: "I'd like to wish Scott all the best for his future career, it is a fantastic opportunity for him to go down to the English Premier League.
"The completion of the deal at this time was beneficial for both the player and the club."
