Northampton have signed striker Saido Berahino from Premier League club West Brom on a one-month loan deal.

Berahino, who has been at Albion since he was 12 and signed a new one-year contract in the summer, has been a regular goalscorer for the reserves this season. The England Under-20 international has been brought in as cover for Adebayo Akinfenwa, who is nursing a fractured jaw and is still around two weeks away from a return to action. On-loan striker Marlon Jackson also returned to Bristol City this week. "Saido is a player that I feel has got the quality and the finishing power to help us," said Town boss Gary Johnson. "West Brom think very highly of him and I have seen him play a couple of times for their reserves. "He is a good player and you don't play for England at Under-20 level if you haven't got something about you. He is quick and strong and he is exactly what we need at the moment."
