McClaren has other irons in the fire in the quest for new signings

Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren has confirmed he is waiting for an opportunity to speak to West Bromwich Albion striker Ishmael Miller. West Brom have accepted offers from Forest and Leicester City for Miller, with Roy Hodgson expecting the forward to move to the City Ground. McClaren will meet with Miller later this week and he revealed he is also chasing further signings as he looks to improve his squad. "We have negotiated with West Brom but we have not met the player or the agent," said McClaren in the Nottingham Evening Post. "It is like a lot of players we have enquired about. It has got to the stage where we need to speak to the player and his agent. We will be looking to do that now over the next few days. "We have other irons in the fire as well. We will see what happens. You get a better idea of what you need once the season starts. League games are always the real test. "We know now what we want and we have to pursue it."
