Marek Cech believes his regular role for West Bromwich Albion during their promotion charge will benefit his performances for Slovakia at the 2010 World Cup.
The left-back played in 33 Championship matches for the Baggies during the 2009/10 season as the club sealed a return to the Premier League.
Cech is currently with his Slovakian compatriots preparing for Tuesday's Group F match against New Zealand in Rustenburg.
And the 27-year-old is looking to shine in South Africa in the hope that decent form will ensure he continues to be a first choice under West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo next term.
"It was very good because the preparation was much better because I played all games," he said.
"It was a very long and very tough season and that's why I'm better prepared than if I did not play regularly. All the time we were playing good football."
Cech, who has already confirmed he will discuss his future with West Brom this summer, continued: "We will see how it will be, whether I will be playing at West Bromwich or not (next season) because football life is upside down.
"One day you are up, one day you are down. I think it will be very good if we get success here in the World Cup, that's why I will be more confident for the Premier League if we don't go out at the group stage.
"We will see how realistic that will be after the first game because that will be the most important game."
