West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a move for Greek striker Angelos Charisteas.
The 28-year-old is currently in Turkey as a number of German clubs host their winter breaks in Belek and it is claimed West Brom scouts have taken a keen interest in the Greece international.
Charisteas joined the German side in 2007 from Feyenoord, but things have not worked out for him.
Following their relegation last summer, he has scored just once in Bundesliga Zwei this term.
Nurnberg general manager Martin Bader admitted that talks had taken place over Charisteas's future and that scouts had been watching him.
"There were scouts looking, we talked about Angelos, but there are a number of clubs training here in Belek," said Bader.
The Baggies scouts are also said to have taken an interest in Nurnberg's Slovak forward Marek Mintal.
MacDonald
Meanwhile, West Brom are making room for potential arrivals after confirming that Sherjil MacDonald was heading to Belgium on loan.
Assistant manager Mark Venus says MacDonald turned down moves to other English clubs before accepting a loan deal with Roeselare.
"Sherjill could have gone to a few English clubs but he chose not to," Venus told the club's
official website.
"He is going to a league he knows well, having previously played for Anderlecht.
"It hasn't really happened for him here maybe because he just hasn't had the time on the pitch that we wanted to give him.
"So he's gone back to Belgium and hopefully he can get some football, get on the pitch, play well and we'll see how it goes from there.
"Whether he comes back rejuvenated like Craig Beattie did from Crystal Palace, or whether he goes on to wherever, it is a chance for him to play week in, week out."
