Tony Mowbray is hopeful Curtis Davies did not suffer a serious injury against Luton on Friday.
The classy defender was taken to hospital after picking up a foot injury during The Baggies' 3-2 win.
Davies returned to pitch-side for the later stages of the contest and Mowbray issued an upbeat bulletin on his well-being.
"The loss of Curtis was a big blow to us," Mowbray told Sky Sports.
"He's been to hospital and had an X-ray and that's looking clear.
"We will get it scanned as well to make sure there is no fine break or fractures.
"I think there was concern about a metatarsal he has had some problems with before, but hopefully it's all positive news."
