Slovenia international Robert Koren is determined to make his mark after signing for Championship side West Brom on Thursday.
The midfielder was keen for a new challenge and is looking forward to playing in England after making the move from Norwegian club Lillestrom.
"I am very pleased and I am joining a big club," Koren told Nettavisen.
"The goal is still to be among the top two to assure direct promotion.
"The club has got many good players, but I have got confidence in my own abilities and of course feel I should play and will succeed."
The 26-year-old insists that joining a Championship club is not a step backwards in his career.
"I have said that I think Spanish football is nice to watch, but that I was open to play in any of the big leagues in Europe," he added.
"It's difficult to tell which is the best of the two, England or Spain."
