West Brom are sweating over the fitness of Tomasz Kuszczak.West Brom are sweating over the fitness of Tomasz Kuszczak after he picked up an injury in the embarrassing defeat to Fulham.
The Polish international sustained a rib injury after a collision with Fulham striker Heidar Helguson.
Kuszczak tried to play on with the problem, but he was eventually forced off 14 minutes into the second half.
Baggies boss Bryan Robson fears Kuszczak may have broken a rib which would sideline him for several weeks.
"The lad dived into Tomasz and how the ref didn't book him, I don't know," fumed Robson.
"Tomasz has got a split eye and has maybe broken a rib."
The injury to Kuszczak may give Chris Kirkland the chance to regain his place in the side, but the 24-year-old is not optimistic of making England's World Cup squad because of his lack of action this season.
Kirkland started the season as West Brom's number one, but he lost his place after suffering a kidney problem and he accepts his lack of first team football could see him miss out on the trip to Germany in the summer.
"If I go to Germany, then great but it's not the end of the world if I don't," said Kirkland. "If I get an England call that would be wonderful but if I don't, I won't be down.
"The most important thing was to get back to club football this year. If it wasn't for the kidney injury I'd have been fit for almost the entire season.
"That is what I wanted to achieve."
