Although a £3.5 million deal had looked to be dead in the water, City boss Nigel Worthington has had his nose pressed to the grindstone throughout the day in order to tie up the move.
It is understood that Earnshaw travelled to Reading with the Norwich squad on Tuesday and the relevant paperwork was completed shortly after the final whistle.
Worthington will be hoping that the striker can have an instant impact on his side's fortunes as they lick their wounds in the wake of a 4-0 drubbing by The Royals.
