West Brom goalkeeper Chris Kirkland says there is more to come from him.
West Brom goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was delighted with his man of the match display against Arsenal, but announced that there was more to come from him.A string of brilliant saves kept The Gunners at bay and ensured a famous victory for The Baggies, but Kirkland was not totally happy with his performance.
"I was pleased with a few of my saves but I was disappointed with the goal because I should have come and taken the cross," he told West Brom's official website.
"It is a part of my game I have to work on and that's what I'll be doing on the training ground."
The on-loan Liverpool keeper, who had not played a competitive game for nine months until his summer move to the Hawthorns, has impressed so far this season and is in line for a place in England's World Cup squad, but is determined to improve.
"I feel as though I'm not quite there yet, but I'll be working doubly hard on the training ground from now on," he promised.
"I feel as though I can do more."
Kirkland was full of praise for his West Brom team-mates, but urged them not rest on their laurels after one good result.
"The character the lads showed to come back on Saturday was great. We could have settled for the draw but we went for the winner and what a goal it was.
"There is no good time to play Arsenal but on their day anyone can beat anyone in The Premiership," he added.
"But there is no point winning this game if we don't kick on from here. We have to start our season now and we'll be working doubly hard in preparation for Bolton."
