Robert Earnshaw has been named Welsh Footballer of the Year.

The West Bromwich Albion star picked up the award for his goalscoring prowess over the previous 12 months which included the first Welsh hat-trick for over a decade.

Earnshaw bagged a treble against Scotland in February - the first ever by a Cardiff City player - although he has since moved to West Brom.

"If you get recognised for doing this then you are doing something right and I am happy," said Earnshaw.

Cardiff did still take one award as their defender James Collins took the Young Footballer of the Year gong.

Also honoured for their contribution to the Welsh game were Mel Nurse and Grenville Millington.
