The Baggies face being without 12-goal topscorer Rob Hulse for their next three games against Watford, Preston and Cardiff after he was sent off in the 1-1 draw against Burnley on Saturday.
Fellow front man Geoff Horsfield also picked up a booking against The Clarets and is now just one booking away from a suspension.
Scott Dobie is still several weeks away from returning from a knee injury, while Danny Dichio has joined Millwall on-loan and Lee Hughes unlikely to figure in Megson's first-team plans once his court trial for causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident begins next month.
It leaves Megson with just Horsfield available during early February although there is funds available having off-loaded Jason Roberts to Wigan recently for £2 million, although the boss admits he is scrathing his head thinking of options.
"We've been discussing this for a while," said Megson.
"The knowledge is there that, yes, we do need to bring someone in, be it permanently or on loan.
"If anyone has any idea or knows of any centre-forwards that are quick, get goals, have great ability and are available then give us a buzz."
