ROTHERHAM UNITED are thought to be closing in on two new signings with a new defender and goalkeeper believed to top of Ronnie Moore's wanted list.

Moore admitted he is closing in on the signature of Burnley defender Lee Briscoe, while reports suggest West Brom ace Joe Murphy could be the goalkeeper in his sights.

Murphy has hinted he could leave The Baggies if he doesn't get more first team action and Moore is thought to be watching his situation at the Hawthorns.

Moore is hopeful of signing Briscoe after his release at Burnley.

"Lee would be a big, big signing for us. I'm looking at him because I am in the market for a left back and he has experience of playing in the Premiership and also at First Division level," Moore told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

"I know he has featured quite often in midfield under Stan Ternent, but I see left back as his best position and If I'm honest, it's a bit of a surprise that Burnley let him go.

"Whenever I've seen him play he has looked good, and we don't have too bad a record in picking up Burnley players in the past.

"Both Alan Lee and John Mullin have been great for me and if I can add Lee as well, I'll be delighted."
