COVENTRY CITY appear to be winning the race to sign hotshot Wrexham striker Andy Morrell in the summer.

Morrell fired The Dragons to automatic promotion in Division Three with a stunning 34 goals which have alerted a number of clubs.

The 28-year-old finished as the Football League's top goalscorer and is available on a Bosman free in the summer and looks likely to make the journey to Highfield Road.

West Bromwich Albion and Millwall are also keen to add the free-scoring star to their ranks but Sky Blues boss Gary McAllister seems to be at the head of the queue as he looks for the firepower to propel City back into The Premiership.

In other news, Racecourse Ground boss Denis Smith has offered professional contracts to young Player of the Year Craig Morgan and Mark Jones.
