WEST BROM boss Gary Megson has released six players as he prepares for life back in Division One.

Bob Taylor, Des Lyttle, Brian Jensen, Jordao, loan star Ife Udeze and Matt Collins have all been told they surplus to requirements at The Hawthorns.

Midfielder Lee Marshall has also been placed on the transfer list after falling out-of-favour with Megson.

One out-of-contract player who is staying at the club is Igor Balis who has been offered a new one-year deal subject to a successful application for a work permit

‚Ç£We would just like to thank everybody for their efforts and wish them all the best in their future careers,‚Ç¥ Megson told the club's official website.

"This is never a nice thing to do but we've got to try and maintain the progress the club has made in the last three years.

"The preparation for next season has already begun.‚Ç¥

Meanwhile, Megson and the club's players will be taking a pay cut following their relegation from The Premiership.

Megson admitted that the club have taken the measure to ensure they do not run into financial problems like many other clubs after suffering relegation from the lucrative Premiership.

The Baggies will reduce their wage bill as they receive a lower income in Division One compared to The Premiership.

"That is what will be happening next season," confirmed Megson.

"The playing staff's wages will be cut as a result of going down and mine drops as well."
