Robinson out to mirror Grealish

Callum Robinson hopes to emulate Jack Grealish after seeing him break into the Aston Villa first team following a loan spell.

On-loan Preston striker Robinson, 19, has been at Deepdale since mid-September and recently extended his first-ever stay away from Villa with the in-form North End until January after impressing in their seven-game unbeaten streak. Robinson has already played Premier League football for Villa alongside his good mate Grealish, who has been a frequent fixture in Paul Lambert's senior team this season following an eye-catching 38-game stint with Notts County last term. Villa's penchant for promoting younger players means that Robinson knows he has a chance of following Grealish into Lambert's plans on a more regular basis if he continues to impress in the third tier. "One of the my best friends Jack Grealish is getting in there now and he did a year at Notts County last season, played 38 games, and he's getting his chance now," said Robinson. "It can be done and at Villa it's probably one of the better academies who give younger players a chance. That's what I'm trying to do, get back there and push into the first team." Robinson has been immersed in success of late having helped England Under-20s win a Four Nations Tournament out in Holland. While playing against physical foes in League One is helping the teenager grow into a man, playing on the continent is teaching him about the nuances of international football. "We won the tournament earlier on in the month, beating Germany and Holland and drawing to Turkey so that's a good experience for me," Robinson admitted. "You are playing with the best players your age for England and then you're playing against the best as well with Germany and Holland. "You're learning loads playing against teams like that. There's a lot of quality there and the way teams like Germany play is different so you've got to deal with that mentally and physically."
