Sky Sports understands Preston North End are in talks with defender David Buchanan over a new deal at Deepdale.
Buchanan, who joined Preston in the summer of 2012, has established himself as a key player in Simon Grayson's side since arriving at the League One outfit.
The 27-year-old is regarded as one of the best defenders outside the top two divisions after catching the eye at Tranmere prior to his switch to Preston.
Buchanan is in the final year of his contract at Deepdale and Preston are keen to secure his future on a new long-term deal.
The former Northern Ireland under 21 international made 38 appearances for Preston in all competitions last season and has figured seven times so far this term.
