New captain John Mousinho believes Preston's status as unknown quantities may work to their advantage in the opening weeks of the season.

Graham Westley has overseen a radical summer overhaul at Deepdale and all 10 outfield players were North End debutants in Monday night's Capital One Cup victory over Huddersfield.

Colchester are up first in npower League One on Saturday and Mousinho hopes the club can reap the benefits of a fresh and revitalised squad following a disappointing campaign last time around.

"I don't think too many teams know what to expect from us," he said. "I'm not sure too many of the fans knew what to expect [against Huddersfield].

"It might work in our favour. At the end of the day, teams will be able to look at us after a few games.

"Ten Preston debutants the other night tells you how much things have changed here over the past three months. That's going to work in our favour and we've got to work hard to make sure that it does."
