Andy Little has welcomed the prospect of competition for places at Rangers this season.
The Northern Ireland international impressed towards the end of last season and signed a new contract at Ibrox despite their status as a Third Division club.
Gers boss Ally McCoist has been open about the need to bring in new players but Little remains unconcerned by the prospect of fighting for his place.
"I still feel like it's in my hands," said the forward.
"If I do well and play like I did towards the end of last season and go about my business properly, I know I've got a good chance of playing.
"I don't want to be in any sort of comfort zone where I'm not working hard every week to get into the team.
Competition
"I'm glad to see they are bringing in players and there's going to be competition for places.
"You never expect to be at Rangers and not have competition for places in the starting 11."
Rangers scraped past Brechin in the Ramsdens Cup last week and face East Fife in the Communities League Cup on Tuesday.
Little knows Rangers remain a scalp for every team in Scotland and believes the key is for the players to remain professional.
He added: "There is expectation to win every single game here so I don't think it's going to be any different.
"We know that every single game we play this season will be like a cup final to the teams we are playing against.
"It's important that we are professional and go about our business in the right way."

And the 23-year-old believes the Rangers fans can play a big part in the club's journey back to the top.
He said: "The fans are one of the biggest reasons why I stayed.
"I could have gone to lower league clubs in England or other clubs in the SPL but I still want to play in front of massive crowds at Ibrox.
"I really hope that we get those big crowds. It's been well-documented that they wanted Third Division football and hopefully they can come out and support us.
"It's the start of a journey and hopefully we can get back to the top."
